An Intern’s Diary Pt. 4
If you’re looking for a Russian to English translation internship – Eclectic Translations in St Petersburg is the place for you!
This is part 4 in a series of posts written by an intern we had back in September 2016; these diary entries should answer questions you may have about what an internship might entail.
Ongoing Bjorn and Bucky – two episodes prepped
Mini translation for the Anton’s Right Here Centre
Christie retranslate for Kino Expo
Today one of the scripts provided for a Bjorn and Bucky episode was quite different from the actual dialogue (there are always little deviations but normally it’s just one word or sound that needs adding), so I have been trying my hand at transcription – an interesting challenge. I’ve never formally done this before, but I have tried in my own time. Much of the missing speech was football related so my lack of Russian (or even English) football vocabulary certainly slowed me down. Transcription is a skill I would like to improve, but maybe a more familiar topic would be a better place to start.
I really like getting mini tasks sent to me throughout the day, like Christie and Anton’s Right Here today, as I feel I’m actually being useful and doing stuff that needs to be done. I’m not a total burden – yay!
