Tal Wood

1982, from London, England

Position: Quality Control Department Director

Responsibilities: Finding, assessing, interviewing, & training native English speaking interns, new recruits, and freelancers. Translating and editing. Quality control in English – from proofreading files, to subtitling; giving feedback & encouraging freelancers to grow professionally.

In His Own Words: I joined Eclectic in 2011, following various stints in translation and translation project management. My main interest is now in audiovisual work, and specifically subtitling, although I still try to cherry pick the interesting translation jobs when I can. I’m always happy to hear from prospective freelancers, and particularly from those who might be starting out in the profession.

What His Colleagues Say: Tal is what you might call ‘a true Brit’: reserved, smartly turned out, a man of few words and unfailingly polite. When he speaks you can’t help but pay attention. Intelligent (just try winning a game of chess against him!). Talented (as a professional, and also as a hobby musician – you should hear his band!). Calm, unflappable.

Tal possesses an astonishing artistic flair, when he chooses to show it: he’s extraordinarily good at telling stories.
